Classroom Practice TO DO LIST:

TO DO LIST:

I will use the carrot, as opposed to the stick. Possible carrots include candy prize - student of the week. Five minutes of "chill time" at the end of class. Games - I need some nerf balls or something like them. Catch & answer. Right side vs. left side. Pizza party if everyone turns in their homework on time. I will use that numbered - card game Williams showed us about.

One rule: "Respect your time in this class." This will be posted clearly at the front of the classroom.

Two warnings, then a consequence. Consequences may vary depending on the student, and the context.

We will write daily or almost daily.

My students will excel on standardized tests.

I will give students time to do homework in class, not only reading.

I will try to focus the homework I give on drill & skill stuff.

I will use the overhead projector a lot to model what I want from the students. having us put together a rough outline of what's expected together, as a group.

I will find those reading comprehension level charts and use them for students who seem to have a problem with reading.

I will offer my students coffee if the school will allow it in the classroom.

My classroom will not have lame posters of cats hanging on clotheslines. It will have relevant stuff, including outstanding student work.

I will outline the class session's agenda every class.
